Sam loves riding his bike after school. One afternoon, he races too fast around a corner. The bike hits a small rock, and the chain breaks. Sam falls but is not hurt.
He looks at the broken bike and feels worried. He knows his father told him to ride slowly. Sam has two choices: hide the bike or tell the truth.
After thinking, Sam decides to be honest. When his father comes home, Sam says, “Dad, I rode too fast and broke the chain. I’m sorry.”
His father looks at the bike and then at Sam. Instead of shouting, he says, “Thank you for telling the truth. Let’s fix it together.” They clean the chain, add oil, and repair the bike.
Sam learns to ride more carefully. He also learns that responsibility starts with honesty.
